What to Expect by Age

Every child grows at their own pace.
Milestones are things most children can do by a certain age. They are a helpful guide, not a test.

Here are a few things you might see, with a full checklist you can keep at home.

Infant (3 to 12 months)

  • Babbles and makes sounds

Toddler (1 to 3 years)

  • Says words and short phrases

  • Walks, climbs, and explores

  • Shows feelings and wants to do things “by myself”

  • Begins to name feelings, tests limits, and looks for comfort during big emotions

Keep track at home

  • Download our Milestone Moments checklist and keep it nearby

  • Check off what your child can do, and bring it to their next checkup.

  • If your child is not doing some of these, or loses a skill they had, talk to your doctor. Acting early helps.
